Tourist Offers: Winter Activities – Sports at Valcanale
Situated at the height of 987 metres, Valcanale is the most important section of the Municipality of Ardesio. Immersed in greenery and in nature with beautiful typical landscapes of alpine panoramas, it is one of the jewels of the Orobico scenery.
Here it is possible to find mountaineering routes for the more experienced with ascents to Pizzo Arera, the Crest of Corna Piana, the Crest of Valmora and Mount Corte. During the Winter season, the steep Dolomite walls of Valcanale, covered with ice falls, become the climbers’ and ice-climbers’ paradise.
Valcanale even offers the possibility to practise alpine skiing on the old slopes, now not being used any more, besides other trails for snowshoes across the characteristic mountain huts that dot the territory.
At the end, there will be lunch at the Mountain Hut Alpe Corte where you would be able to taste a traditional meal, discovering Ardesio through its flavours.
